The Mercedes X-class is the cool Mercedes bakke we fell in love with earlier this year. A new version of that bakkie is making its local debut in November and it will have an even larger engine and enduring all-wheel drive. The van is called the X350 d 4MATIC.
Inside it has a 3.0L six-cylinder diesel engine with common-rail direct injection. It makes 190kW of power while torque is available from 1400 to 3200 rpm making for enhanced off-road driving in tough conditions.
Power goes to all four wheels via a Mercedes’ 7G-Tronic Plus transmission that doesn’t interject power during gear changes. Mercedes says that means better handling on tough gradients and when driving off-road or towing a trailer. The X 350 d 4MATIC has five driver selective DYNAMIC SELECT settings; comfort, Sport, Manual, ECO and Off-road. As with the models released earlier this year, raised suspension is optional. The bakkie comes in Progressive (R904 188) and Power (R973 188) equipment lines. Mercedes is also offering new wheel designs and accessories.
