Broadband providers typically try to attract new customers by offering attractively low prices for an introductory period. Eventually, the monthly cost of these contracts shoot up to compensate for the discounted rate you’ve been paying up until then, but this is where Mweb’s latest ADSL and FTTH deal is a little bit different.
As of today, Mweb’s basic capped ADSL packages have to dropped by as much as R150; and, better yet, their FTTH products have decreased as well with a number of free extras such as Dstv Explora’s, installation or routers. We know what you’re thinking: hang on a second, where’s the catch?
The price decreases on high-end, capped ADSL products are:
• 300G dropped to R999, saving: R150
• 150GB dropped to R549, saving: R50
• 100GB dropped to R399, saving: R50
• 75GB dropped to R299, saving: R50
• 50GB dropped to R199, saving: R40
Well, there isn’t one – not one that’s likely to send you running, anyway. Firstly, Mweb hasn’t volunteered an end date for the promotion meaning that existing customers will automatically benefit from the new price reductions and have received communication to this effect. Also, if you want to take Mweb up on the FTTH offer, you’ll have to take out a Telkom landline that is in a FTTH covered area; broadband and landlines usually come as pair, though, so that’s not exactly unusual.
