Following the success of The Witcher, there probably hasn’t been another Netflix series that has attempted to reach similar heights, until now with Cursed. One we’ve been anticipating ever since it was first announced and after seeing the plotline as well as the trailer, which was recently released, our original excitement is evidently justified. If you are familiar with the story of Arthur, Merlin and King Uther then this will seem vividly similar to all the previous renditions, Cursed though with a bit of a twist:
All set for July 17, this one is based on the New York Times bestselling book, Cursed is a re-imagination of the Arthurian legend, told through the eyes of Nimue, a young woman with a mysterious gift who is destined to become the powerful (and tragic) Lady of the Lake. After her mother’s death, she finds an unexpected partner in Arthur, a humble mercenary, in a quest to find Merlin and deliver an ancient sword. Over the course of her journey, Nimue will become a symbol of courage and rebellion against the terrifying Red Paladins, and their complicit King Uther. Cursed is a coming-of-age story whose themes are familiar to our own time: the obliteration of the natural world, religious terror, senseless war, and finding the courage to lead in the face of the impossible.
We are more than ready for it and we have no doubt it’s going to be a hit with many. July 17 is when it’s due out, remember.
