Movie Preview – After We Collided

We aren’t scared or embarrassed to admit that we’re chick flick fans, as we pointed out here and that’s what our focus (After We Collided) is mainly on today. The movie is a sequel to the 2019 film After (another one we watched and equally enjoyed) and this one is heading to the big screen on 18 September 2020. In as much as it’s a chick flick it’s on the risque side of things (think Fifty Shades vibes) and it’s no wonder it’s rated R with some hot and heavy moments. After We Collided, picks up where the passionate and often tumultuous love affair between Josephine Langford (Tessa), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (Hardin), left off and becomes a love triangle with the addition of Dylan Sprouse (Trevor).

It goes without saying that the first instalment ended rather abruptly, yet intentionally by author Anna Todd with Tessa emotionally destroyed and everyone wondering how Hardin was going to make up for his mistake.

Tessa and Hardin were committed to working things out until the bombshell of the origins of their relationship (that Hardin only dated Tessa as a bet) was where the film ended. This next instalment begins with Tessa starting a new life for herself which involves an internship at her dream job with publishing company, Vance. Her new-found independence in her new role leaves Hardin dismayed.

Throughout the story we are exposed to an emotional tug-of-war between Tessa and Hardin. Hardin knows that he made possibly the biggest mistake of his life and will do whatever it takes to win ‘his’ Tessa back. Hardin will always be – Hardin, but is he really the deep, thoughtful guy Tessa fell madly in love with despite his anger issues; or will After We Collided show us another side of him?
