South African Volkswagen enthusiasts have reason to rejoice. The popular Polo Sedan lineup has expanded with the introduction of a new engine option – the powerful and efficient 1.0 TSI unit.
This 85kW turbocharged engine delivers 178 Nm of torque, providing a lively driving experience. The 0-100 km/h sprint is achieved in 11.5 seconds, and the Polo Sedan can reach a top speed of 190 km/h. Impressively, Volkswagen claims a combined fuel consumption figure of just 6.3 litres per 100 kilometers.

The new engine is available in two equipment lines: Life and Style. The Life variant comes packed with features like keyless entry and start, a rearview camera, a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless charging and App-Connect, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, climatronic air conditioning, ambient lighting, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with front fog lamps and cornering lights. It also boasts safety features like Hill Start Assist.

The top-of-the-range Style derivative adds even more features. It includes an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, a rain sensor, a tilt and slide sunroof, leatherette seats with a two-piece folding rear bench, and additional airbags for comprehensive occupant protection. The Style also rides on stylish 17-inch Tritz alloy wheels.
The Polo Sedan is available in five exterior colors, with one solid paint option, namely Candy White and four metallic choices – Wild Cherry Red, Carbon Steel Grey, Reflex Silver, and Rising Blue.
