Not too long ago we announced the Global Citizen Movement TV special as one of this year’s must see TV programmes, in addition to that though a gala dinner in celebration of the pilot episode of ACTIVATE: THE GLOBAL CITIZEN MOVEMENT took place this past week in the North of Johannesburg.
The event, which was attended by activists, personalities and change-makers, highlighted the six key issues that the series brings to the fore.
Bonang Matheba, Global Citizen ambassador, was the guest of honour and delivered the keynote address. Penny Lebyane was MC for the evening with Brenda Mthambo entertaining the guests with a live performance.
In addition to that, various celebrities were also in attendance including Boity Thulo, Claire Mawisa, Elana Afrika, DJ Doowap, K Naomi, Leanne Dlamini, Maps Maponyane, Sivu Madikane and Trevor Stuurman, among others. As a cool feature on the night, National Geographic made a donation to the Footprints Foundation.
