Lat year, The Rand Show introduced Ocean Wanders – and it became one of the biggest hits on the show floor. Visitors didn’t just walk through it; they stopped, explored, took photos, and left genuinely buzzing. After that kind of response, the question naturally followed: how could it possibly be topped?

In 2026, The Rand Show answers with Jungle Magic, a larger-than-life jungle experience that transforms a hall into an immersive world designed to delight the senses. This isn’t something visitors ‘look at’. It’s something they will feel and delight in.

From the moment kids of all ages step inside, Jungle Magic will pull them into the wild. They’ll witness the sights, hear jungle calls echoing through the space, and smell that fresh jungle scent that makes it feel like they’ve been transported far beyond Johannesburg. Bright, bold colours set the tone for an experience that instantly sparks wonder, captivating kids and drawing adults in just as quickly.

And then there are the creatures.

Jungle Magic features giant, magical animals and show-stopping jungle elements that feel straight out of an adventure story; from a King Kong-sized gorilla ; to huge elephants; vibrant chameleons; and striking flamingos. Around every corner, something new awaits: giant spiders, dramatic jungle scenes, and a world packed with texture and detail that makes the space feel alive.

The experience blends fun with discovery. Along the way, visitors are encouraged to learn as they explore – pausing to take in oversized environments, Jurassic-sized flowers, and bursts of colour. Another highlight includes an indoor waterfall feature that brings the jungle to life in spectacular fashion.

For the brave (and the curious), there’s also the chance to touch and feel creepy crawlies, adding an extra thrill that children will love, and talk about long after they’ve left the show.

Jungle Magic is an experience unlike anything else in Johannesburg, and it reinforces The Rand Show’s position as Joburg’s best day out. For families looking for the best place to be over the Easter weekend, this is it: one huge hall filled with wonder, colour, sound and pure Jungle Magic – all at no extra cost to visitors.

The cost of the Jungle Magic attraction is included in the price of the entry ticket to the Rand Show.

Adults (13+): R120 per person (single-day entry)

Children (3–12 years): R90 per child (single-day) (children under 3 enter free)

Pensioners: R90 per person (senior citizens)

Family Package: R340 per bundle – includes 2 Adult tickets + 2 Children’s tickets (ideal for a family of four; available online only)

Opening Day Special (Thursday 2 April): R50 per ticket for all ages – one-day only promo! (Available online and at the gate on 2 April)

A question we’re sure most of you are asking, thankfully we have all the answers, customers are set to enjoy the best of both worlds as Showmax Originals and fan favourites join live sport, and award-winning local and international content on DStv Stream.

Showmax Originals and select titles are moving to DStv Stream, where they will live in a dedicated Showmax section within the app.

The move ensures the award‑winning African stories remain widely available after the Showmax service closes on 30 April 2026.

DStv Stream brings together on‑demand entertainment and live TV, including sport, in one streaming destination.

Showmax Originals and more will be available to DStv Compact and DStv Premium satellite and streaming-only customers via the DStv Stream app.

More movies and series will be added over the coming weeks.

“Showmax helped unlock a wave of world-class African storytelling,” says Nomsa Philiso, Director Content, General Entertainment English and Portuguese speaking territories at MultiChoice, a CANAL+ company. “Series like The Wife, Youngins, Devilsdorp , and Adulting, along with productions from Nigeria, Kenya and across the continent, were created through collaboration between MultiChoice’s content teams and local producers. That commitment to African storytelling does not change.”

The success of Showmax Originals has been built through partnerships with producers, writers and creative talent across Africa. Series such as Spinners, a co‑production between MultiChoice and CANAL+, which aired across Africa and in France, demonstrate how locally developed African stories are increasingly reaching global audiences.

For South African customers, DStv Stream remains the platform where this content is available locally, alongside a much broader library of African and international content, live channels and sport.

“This move brings together Showmax Originals, on‑demand entertainment and live television in a single platform designed around how audiences want to watch and enjoy their content today,” says Willington Ngwepe, CEO of MultiChoice SA (Pty) Ltd, the broadcasting services licensee.

How to get Showmax on DStv

You (customers) can download the DStv Stream app or visit the DStv website, log in or sign up, and navigate to the Showmax section. Showmax Originals on DStv Stream are available on DStv Compact and DStv Premium packages. This includes satellite customers, who get access to DStv Stream as part of their package, as well as standalone DStv Stream customers. DStv Compact Stream is available from R299.

Beyond its content library, DStv Stream includes a range of useful streaming features such as live and on‑demand viewing, pause and rewind, Watch From Start, offline downloads, recording, and the ability to adjust video quality to manage data usage.

Glen Powell, whom we like to call the new-age Ryan Reynolds, is quickly cementing himself as one of Hollywood’s most in-demand leading men. With a knack for blending action, comedy and just the right dash of seriousness, he’s carving out a lane that feels both familiar and refreshingly his own. How to Make a Killing sits comfortably in that sweet spot.

The film follows Powell’s character as he attempts to secure his rightful slice of a messy family inheritance, a setup that leans into chaos, suspicion and sharp-witted maneuvering. Think the quirky, self-aware storytelling style of the Knives Out franchise: playful narration, eccentric characters and a tone that flirts with absurdity without completely losing the plot.

It’s a straightforward story, easy to follow, and anchored by a lingering sense of intrigue that keeps you guessing, especially as it builds toward a twist worth sticking around for. This is precisely where Powell thrives. The role fits him like a glove, allowing him to flex that effortless charm that’s quickly becoming his trademark.

The film doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that works in its favour. It taps into a proven formula, stylish mystery meets comedic timing, that continues to resonate when executed well. That said, it’s not flawless. A few antics stretch believability a little too far, and the script could’ve been tightened to sharpen its impact. Still, as an enjoyable, switch-off-your-brain watch, it absolutely delivers.

Powell is joined by a strong supporting cast, including Margaret Qualley (Maid, Happy Gilmore), Jessica Henwick (Iron Fist, The Matrix Resurrections), and the legendary Ed Harris (A Beautiful Mind, Westworld).

If you haven’t been paying attention to Powell’s run, where have you been? From Anyone but You to Hit Man (and more on the way), his catalogue is growing fast, and wisely chosen.

Shout out to Sun Africa Group for hosting the pre-screening.

Verdict: If you’re after a dose of stylish, slightly silly escapism, a film that entertains without demanding too much, How to Make a Killing is right up your alley.

ESPN Africa recently launched the premiere episode of Jesse in Japan as part of an all-new and clever original short form digital content series helmed by Springbok and Yokohama Canon Eagles star Jesse Kriel. Episodes can be viewed here.

The series will offer an unfiltered glimpse into how the South African rugby player has adapted to daily life in a new culture, balancing elite performance with curiosity, discipline and the small comforts that make a place feel like home. Jesse’s status as an athlete and rugby professional has grown exponentially in recent years through his successes with the South African men’s national rugby team the Springboks, which he has recently captained, his successes in Japan and his dedicated approach to health and fitness.

“ESPN remains committed to offering viewers cross the continent an unparalleled offering of the very best of US and international sporting leagues,” says Kyle De Klerk, Director of Sports at The Walt Disney Company Africa. “We are delighted to be working with Jesse Kriel to bring Jesse in Japan to viewers, offering complementary programming that gives an insight into the life and career of not only this sporting legend but also the thrilling Japan Rugby League One as he, together with his teammates, create historic sporting moments.”

October is cybersecurity month but most of us by now know that protecting yourself shouldn’t be a once month thing or something you can extra attention to in one particular month. For the experts this is considered the busiest month with the aim of keeping all of us safe online and with Black Friday around the corner this becomes even more pertinent.

Black Friday comes with it exciting deals everywhere with many clicking fast, whilst scammers are also sharpening their digital claws. Around 68% of South Africans said they were targeted by fraud (email, phone, text, online) from Aug-Dec 2024 and 33% of them lost money during that time. Cybersecurity Awareness Month signals the need to buff up your online street smarts. Being connected shouldn’t mean being careless. With these tips in mind, you’ll hopefully stay safer than a bank vault.

Rename your Wi-Fi and create a guest zone for your gadgets

Default SSIDs like VumaFibre_1234 are hacker magnets. Go for something boring, odd, or cryptic. Add a strong password and you’ve already fortified your Wi-Fi fortress. Smart bulbs, cameras, speakers they’re fun, but they’re also potential entry points. Use your router’s guest network feature to sandbox all those “smart home” devices away from your personal gear.

QR codes = not always cute

Scammers are embedding malicious links in QR codes at stores, flyers and even on receipts. Before you scan, consider a few things is the branding legit? Does the code look photoshopped over something else? If in doubt, don’t do it.

Protect access to your phone like it’s your home

You wouldn’t just let someone into your house. So don’t just protect your devices lock down who can access them. Use strong multi-factor authentication (MFA), avoid reusing account names and treat account recovery like a secret mission.

Whether it’s your router, antivirus, firewall, or cloud backup, ensure they “speak” to each other. Correlated alerts give you faster responses and fewer “oh no” moments.

When in doubt, report it out

If you encounter anything suspicious, be it a weird email, a suspicious site, or a scammer attempting contact on WhatsApp or social media, report it immediately to your bank, ISP, or the South African Police Services Digital Crime Unit. Your alert can help shut down scams for an entire community. It’s like neighbourhood watch, but digital.

“As South Africans connect to faster fibre and smarter homes, it’s important to connect safely,” says Simon Butler, Chief Commercial Officer at Vuma.

“Technology empowers people to do extraordinary things, but it’s only truly powerful when we use it safely and confidently. By practising smart digital habits and looking out for one another, we can make the internet safer for everyone.”

Vuma’s fibre doesn’t just connect devices, it connects people, schools, communities and opportunities. From households and smart homes to schools and entrepreneurs, the technology enables real-world possibilities. But the tech is only half the story. To really thrive, we need smart habits, shared vigilance and a little streetwise DNA.

By following these smart moves, staying curious and staying cautious you can protect yourself, your data, and your home network, and help make cyber safety a community effort.

Fujifilm, one oldest tech companies mostly known for innovation in the printing space, has launched its Apeos multifunction printer (MFP) range in Mzansi. Engineered for demanding A3 and A4 office environments, at their core, the company’s Apeos devices (both the Super EA-Eco toner and high-resolution LED printheads) deliver market-leading print resolution of 1200 x 2400 dpi.

Super EA-Eco toner, developed from more than six decades of Fujifilm expertise in toner science, features one of the smallest particle sizes globally. This allows for sharp reproduction of fine text and thin lines, accurate halftones, and stable gradients. Combined with the LED printhead, which produces an exceptionally thin beam without mechanical vibration, Apeos printers deliver consistent image stability and precise colour reproduction, critical for maintaining brand integrity and professional presentation standards.

The Apeos range is designed for continuous high-volume use, with efficient paper handling and output that minimises downtime.

Security for connected workplaces

Security is a fundamental element of the Apeos design. The range holds ISO/IEC15408 certification for IT security design and operation, the BLI Security Seal for device penetration from Keypoint Intelligence, and ISO/IEC20243 certification, which protects against risks of unauthorised components or counterfeit parts within the supply chain. These certifications ensure that Apeos devices meet stringent global standards for secure document workflows.

The MFPs integrate seamlessly with various digital services, supporting hybrid working environments where employees require secure access to documents across multiple locations. Connectivity options enable smooth document sharing and centralised management while maintaining compliance with data protection requirements.

Sustainable printing systems

The Apeos printers are certified as Fujifilm Green Value Products, aligning with the company’s “Green Value” Climate Strategy. Super EA-Eco toner reduces fusing temperature requirements, cutting energy consumption by up to 54% in glossy mode, while induction heating fusing technology eliminates pre-heating and further reduces power usage. The devices incorporate recycled plastics and bio-based flame-resistant plastics, contributing to lower environmental impact.

Fujifilm’s environmental initiatives have been recognised globally with an EcoVadis Gold Medal, reinforcing the company’s commitment to sustainability in manufacturing and product design.

The following Apeos series are now available locally:

Apeos C4030 series: A4 multifunction printers designed for secure, connected office environments, with advanced operability and integration features.

Apeos C3060 series: A3 multifunction printers with dependable paper handling, optional scalability for higher paper capacity, and robust performance for everyday use.

Apeos C7070 series: A3 devices featuring AI-based predictive maintenance and remote support tools that reduce downtime, plus usage tracking functions to optimise departmental efficiency and cost control.

Fujifilm’s Apeos portfolio brings together precision engineering, proven reliability, and secure, sustainable design to meet the technical requirements of today’s professional print environments. The Apeos C4030 and C7070 series have undergone rigorous testing by Keypoint Intelligence and have been awarded the Buyers Lab’s “Highly Recommended” rating, validating their reliability and output quality in professional settings.

Sandton City has unveiled the next chapter of its Words That Heal campaign in collaboration with the Riky Rick Foundation for the promotion of emotional well-being, this mental health awareness month. What began as a nationwide call to share words of encouragement has now grown into a moving song of hope and an immersive in-centre experience that celebrates the power of creative expression in supporting youth mental wellness.

The Song That Speaks to Healing

Earlier this year, Sandton City shoppers were invited to share heartfelt voice notes of encouragement, things that they would like to say to people who are struggling. A selection of these messages, drawn from hundreds of submissions, have now been woven into a powerful original song, also titled Words That Heal, featuring the voice of Riky Rick. The hip hop song celebrates resilience and reminds listeners that no one is alone in their journey.

Now available online and on YouTube, the track reflects the campaign’s core message: that words have the power to connect, comfort, and inspire. Every person can play a part in turning awareness into action, making mental health a national conversation that continues beyond the month of October. Listen to the song below:

Experience the Movement at Sandton City

From now until Sunday 9 November, shoppers can step into the Words That Heal experiential pop-up activation, situated on the upper level next to BOSS in Sandton City. Designed in collaboration with acclaimed artist Samurai Farai, the space showcases limited-edition T-shirts, hoodies, and scarves inspired by “artivism,” the meeting point of creativity and activism that Riky Rick championed.

All proceeds from these merchandise sales will go directly to the Riky Rick Foundation, which supports youth mental well-being and creates platforms for creative expression as a form of healing. Visitors can also pledge their support online at www.rikyrickfoundation.co.za/pledges to contribute to mental health initiatives across the country.

Every day, South Africa loses an estimated 23 people to suicide, with hundreds more attempting to take their lives. Through this initiative, Sandton City aims to continue to provide hope, raise awareness and champion meaningful conversations around mental health.

Shoppers are encouraged to keep raising their voices for those facing mental health challenges. The WhatsApp line 063 980 5816 is still open. Remember, one kind message can help save a life.

Excitement and intrigue with the prospect of this one that makes so much sense, today ESPN has announced the signing of a five-year agreement for exclusive multimedia rights to the UEFA Women’s Champions League (UWCL), from the 2025/26 through the 2029/30 seasons. The deal expands ESPN’s global footprint in women’s soccer, including all 75 matches in the competition each season, the draws, highlights, magazine, and archive programming. Coverage spans Spanish-language rights in the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Australia, New Zealand, and Sub-Saharan Africa.

This new agreement complements The Walt Disney Company’s recent media rights agreement to bring the UEFA Women’s Champions League to Disney+ across Europe, positioning ESPN on Disney+ as the primary destination for fans in these key territories.

“The UEFA Women’s Champions League is one of the most prestigious competitions in sport, with unmatched global reach,” said Tim Bunnell, Senior Vice President, Programming Acquisitions, ESPN. “This agreement represents another key milestone in our ongoing effort to deliver the most compelling sporting events to fans everywhere. As we expand ESPN’s portfolio of women’s sports, we remain committed to elevating world-class women’s football for global audiences.”

Added Guy-Laurent Epstein, UC3 Co-Managing Director, “We are proud to extend our collaboration with ESPN, a key broadcast partner that shares our ambition to grow the UEFA Women’s Champions League globally. This agreement will bring the competition to millions of fans across key international markets, reinforcing our commitment to expanding the global reach and impact of women’s football.”

The agreement underscores ESPN’s continued commitment to women’s sports, adding the UEFA Women’s Champions League to an unprecedented portfolio of women’s sports available on ESPN – The Walt Disney Company sports brand – globally. This growing lineup includes UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, WNBA, NWSL, Women’s Super League, Liga MX Femenil, Women’s Basketball Championships, Women’s College World Series, Women’s Volleyball, Women’s College Gymnastics Championship, and more. Through strategic rights acquisitions and programming over 45 years, ESPN has been a driving force connecting fans to women’s sports.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League will debut a new 18-team league phase format in the 2025-26 season. Following the official draw on September 19, the league phase kicks off Tuesday, October 7, featuring six matchdays through mid-December. Knockout rounds begin in February 2026, with the season concluding at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo, Norway, in May.
