On the market for a new smartwatch? The folks at Mercedes-Benz have released their very own branded Garmin Vivo Active 3 GPS smartwatch alongside the 2020 CLA Coupe earlier this week.
With that, the 2020 CLA Coupe brings major updates to Mercedes’ latest infotainment system Mercedes-Benz User Experience, MBUX. As we’ve learnt in the A-Class.
Back to the customised version of the Garmin Vivo Active 3 GPS smartwatch, it features a new casing design and special display screens, made to complement the Mercedes-Benz cars. However, unlike watch tie-ins we’ve seen in the past, there’s a functional basis for wearing it as you drive, not just an aesthetic one.
The watch can feed health data – like your heart rate – to the MBUX system, giving Mercedes’ Energizing Packages an insight into how stressed or relaxed they are. That, in turn, will help shape what assistance the CLA Coupe gives you. Drivers will be able to select a potentially less stressful route in the navigation system, for starters.
To take things further, the watch could be used to automatically play stimulating or soothing music, depending on the your mood, or custom massage patterns. Climate control, ambient lighting, and even scents could be linked to that real-time biometric data.
Pricing and Availability:
Mercedes Benz has not confirmed which models will be compatible with the Vivo Active 3 smartwatch nor whether it will actually come with the all-new CLA when it launches later this year
