The plain old polycarb and rubber covers are so yesterday. What you really want is some genuine wood on your precious gadgets. At least that’s the pitch from Cape Town based Houdt, which recently announced its limited edition iPhone 5/5s and 6 designer case, available exclusively through iFix Cape Town or online.
The range is a result of a collaborative process between the brand and the top seven independent artists, which include Kronk, Hanno and Merchant, just to mention a few (end of thinking capacity). Don’t be fooled by its simple look, as the company let the artist go get creative on Rosewood as their canvas for the range, each artist was commissioned to produce 50 handcrafted units with amazing mural bearing their signature styles – you’ll be sure to know you’re bearing a specially made piece.
The case does add 2mm of bulk onto your device, and it does ask for R499 for the iPHone 5/5s or R599 for the iPhone 6, but these are the kinds of sacrifices that some are willing to make in return for that warm luxurious feel.
