In addition to everything else we do here at twfld, we are also huge music fans. You would find it very hard to find any individual who doesn’t have a liking or at least has an inclination towards music. Music is probably one of the few things that transcends all kinds of cultures, languages, personalities, individuals and much more. Such is the power of it that all kinds of things can be achieved through it with different types of messages also disseminated. There’s so much more that can be said about it…it’s actually no wonder then why we are such huge fans and why we were amped for Huawei Joburg Day.
For those of you who aren’t quite familiar with what Huawei Joburg Day is – first of all who are you and second, have you been hiding under a rock or something?
Huawei Joburg Day is an annual event that consists of a variety of great live musical acts, enjoyed with your loved ones. Think of it as the perfect excuse for a family day out that can also easily lend itself as the perfect vibe with your mates…yes, it’s that cool. This year’s event took place on Saturday (1st Sep) at the Crocodile Creek Polo Club, Botasdal Farm in Lanseria, Johannesburg.
The blockbuster lineup included something for everyone, from the latest hit-makers to Mzansi’s music royalty. The list consisted of Shekhinah (easily our favourite local female vocalist), The Parlotones, Ricky Rick, Jeremy Loops, Mafikizolo, Goodluck, DJ Maphorisa, Lady Zamar, Goldfish, AKA, DJ Kent, Chrizz Beatz, Prince Kaybee and Gangs of Ballet.
If you are having FOMO right now then we wouldn’t blame you, we would be too if we missed this. The event lived up to expectation with a reported attendance of just over 20,000 people with most individuals coming through towards the latter parts, many making it in time to see what was (arguably) the highlight performer, AKA. We wished that the sound could have been better especially for those far away from the stage…a minor issue that didn’t prevent it from being a beyond enjoyable experience.
We’re pretty sure there will be another installment next year, do yourself a favor and be sure to book your place. Check out some of the images below from the event captured via the fantastic Huawei P20 Pro smartphone:
