South African insurer MiWay Blink is embracing digital innovation with the introduction of a new WhatsApp chatbot. This AI-powered tool aims to streamline the car insurance quote process for customers who prefer a chat-based approach.
“We’re excited to offer our customers a convenient way to get quick car insurance quotes directly on WhatsApp,” says Keletso Mpisane, Head of MiWay Blink. “This chatbot is part of our commitment to making car insurance easier and more accessible.”
Launched in February 2024, the MiWay Blink chatbot allows users to request car insurance quotes directly through WhatsApp. This eliminates the need for phone calls or lengthy waits on hold.
“We’re leveraging technology to improve the customer experience,” explains Mpisane. “The chatbot provides a quick and user-friendly way to get a quote, putting car insurance information right at your fingertips.”
After receiving a quote, users can seamlessly transition to the MiWay Blink app or website to finalize the process. However, the chatbot recognizes that not everyone prefers a fully digital experience.
“We understand that some customers might still value human interaction,” says Mpisane. “The chatbot offers the option to connect with a MiWay Blink representative directly through the app or website for further assistance.”
The rise of AI and chatbots in customer service is a growing trend. MiWay Blink acknowledges that roughly half of South Africans are comfortable using AI for transactions.
“The chatbot caters to the growing number of people who prefer a digital approach,” Mpisane explains. “But for those who prefer a traditional touch, the option for human interaction remains available.”
