We recall seeing this one (Fantastic Beats & Where to Find Them) as a preview first time in 2016 and we weren’t too sure about it. Boy were we wrong and this is after we officially got around to seeing it in 2017. Absolutely blew us away especially from a visual and storytelling point of view…it’s a beautiful movie, literally. Good news is we have a sequel to look forward to and is officially hitting our Ster Kinekor big screens on 16 November, this time titled Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald:
DIRECTOR: David Yates
CAST: Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, Zoë Kravitz, Callum Turner, Claudia Kim, Brontis Jodorowsky, Jude Law & Johnny Depp
RUNNING TIME: 2h 14m
Warner Bros. Pictures’ “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” is the second of five all new adventures in the Wizarding World™ created by J.K. Rowling.
At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Johnny Depp) was captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne). But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Jude Law) enlists Newt, his former student, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.
Unlike the first one, best believe we won’t take too long to watch this one! In J.K. Rowling the franchise also has a fantastic orchestrator behind it.
