Movie Preview - The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run

Yes, you read the title correctly, this one is anime related and is based on Spongebob, a classic cartoon character familiar with most. Officially titled The Spongebob Movie: Sponge On The Run, this one is earmarked for a 2020 May release and will no doubt find favor with many. It was inevitable that there would be a CGI rendition of this classic cartoon that formed part of many of our childhoods and is still fresh in the memory:

Set before the events of the television series, SpongeBob’s first trip to Camp Coral is disrupted when his pet snail Gary is kidnapped by Poseidon. Determined to get back his faithful friend, Spongebob and his best friend Patrick go on a quest to rescue Gary from the Lost City of Atlantic City.

As both the trailer and plot suggest, this one is going to be as laid back as they come but full of quirky adventure that will endear itself and is perfect for the entire family. This is something we don’t usually highlight but we won’t lie that we are excited to see this one. It looks like a genuinely innocent and fun movie that is the perfect excuse to take a little human or two with to a big screen outing, something we’re going to be also doing.
