Remember when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Note 5 and S6 Edge+ a few weeks ago? It also took chance to reveal a fast wireless charging pad that takes advantage of the smartphones’ new, speedier Qi charging spec.
That fast wireless charger was first introduced as bundle to the South African market when the S6 launched earlier this year – given that you had the right carrier. Well, you can now purchase that charging pad… in a manner of speaking, as a standalone device. Say erm, you were on CellC and your GS6 didn’t come with the charging pad.
The R799 peripheral is available to purchase at Samsung’s stores as I write, but Samsung confirmed that other ‘leading’ retailers will stock it soon. You’ll be waiting an unspecified number of weeks before this is sitting on your desk, then. If you can afford to wait, however, it could be a good complement to Samsung’s latest supersized devices — you won’t have to wait ages charge up your phone just because you hate cables.
