We’ve been familiar with Seagate’s Backup Plus line for quite some time now, and the company has just announced a new addition to its already exciting line-up. The storage outfit has pulled the wraps off its 200GB of could storage offering said to be serviced through Microsoft’s OneDrive. With no time wasted, Seagate also announced a new high capacity for its Backup Plus portable at 4TB in a sleek 20.5mm form factor using a single platter portable drive.
“With features such as OneDrive cloud storage, and the new 4TB capacity point, Seagate Backup Plus family addresses the growing needs for data storage and backup with flexible data access and simple data management in the personal storage market.” said Jingwen Li, research analyst, storage systems for IDC. The Backup Plus unit is bus-powered at the hands of its USB 3.0 connection and claims speeds of 220 MB/s with a metal-topped plastic enclosure. It’s set to retail for R2934 from mid-July.
