Inspired and ultimately a spin off from the classic Game of Thrones series, the second season of House of the Dragon is getting ever closer with Showmax and M-Net set to express broadcast from 17 June 2024. The Emmy-winning first season was named Best TV Series – Drama at the 2023 Golden Globes and Best TV Series at Rotten Tomatoes’ Golden Tomato Awards for the best reviewed show of 2022.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.
Matt Smith is back in his Critics Choice-nominated role as Daemon Targaryen, as is Emma D’Arcy in her Golden Globe-nominated role as Rhaenyra Targaryen. Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel and Rhys Ifans also return.
New cast this season include BAFTA nominee Abubakar Salim (Father in Raised by Wolves) as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin (Sheila the She-Wolf in GLOW) as Alys Rivers, Freddie Fox (Slow Horses, The Great) as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Kieran Bew (Bill O’Hara in Warrior) as Hugh.
