The future of electric cars has taken a significant leap forward as Sibaya Casino & Entertainment Kingdom embraces the electric vehicle revolution with the installation of a state-of-the-art 100KW fast charger. This remarkable addition promises to enhance the guest experience by reducing the time spent on mundane tasks and allowing more time for leisure pursuits.
The cutting-edge Rubicon E-Mobility charger, boasting a power output of up to 220KW, can swiftly recharge electric vehicles, such as the Audi e-tron, to 80% capacity in just 30 minutes. This rapid charging capability translates to an impressive range of approximately 260 kilometers. The charger is accessible to all patrons holding a Rubicon E-Mobility or Grid Cars charge card, who can enjoy the convenience at an affordable rate of R5.88 per kilowatt-hour.

Sibaya General Manager Virath Gobrie expressed enthusiasm about this forward-thinking move, stating, “Any vehicle equipped with a CCS2 charging socket, the most commonly used charging connectors in South Africa, can now recharge at Sibaya. We are keeping pace with the evolving automotive landscape and ensuring that our guests, many of whom favor staying on trend with the latest vehicles, can charge their electric cars at Sibaya. Our new fast charger means less time waiting around and more time at the tables or slot machines, enjoying a show, or dining with your family.”

One of the most remarkable features of this charging station is its ability to accommodate two vehicles simultaneously, eliminating the need for guests to wait in line. Additionally, concerns about power outages, such as load shedding, are addressed as the charger is seamlessly connected to a backup generator, guaranteeing a reliable source of electricity.
This groundbreaking development comes at a time when the electric vehicle market in South Africa is gaining traction. In 2022, a total of 500 battery electric vehicles were sold, marking a significant increase from the 218 units sold in 2021.
