Set to feature on Ster-Kinekor’s Cine Prestige, the movie is all set for an exclusive pre-screening on 19 September 2019 with the nationwide release being on 20 September 2019.

In this one Pitt stars as Roy McBride, an astronaut who travels to the outer edges of the solar system in search of his renegade father. His voyage into the abyss of deep space leads him to unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet, as he uncovers secrets that challenge the nature of human existence and our place in the cosmos. A great set up, Ad Astra also features an impressive cast consisting of Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland and Tommy Lee Jones. One thing is for sure, it’s great to have Brad Pitt back and as previously mentioned, better than ever.

Cast – Gerard Butler, Morgan Freeman, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lance Reddick, Tim Blake Nelson, Piper Perabo, Nick Nolte & Danny Huston

Director – Ric Roman Waugh

Genre – Thriller/Action

Running Time – 2h 1m

Officially on the circuit from today on Ster-Kinekor Cine Prestige, Angel Has Fallen is not a new concept especially to those familiar with the other movies that form part of its unofficial ‘Has Fallen’ trilogy which includes Olympus Has Fallen and London Has Fallen. Unlike its predecessors though, this one includes a slight deviation to usual proceedings.

It instead finds Secret Service Agent Mike Banning (Gerard Butler) wrongfully accused and taken into custody. This happens shortly after there is an assassination attempt on U.S. President Allan Trumbull (Morgan Freeman). After escaping from capture, he becomes a man on the run and must evade his own agency and outsmart the FBI in order to find the real threat to the President. Desperate to uncover the truth, Banning turns to unlikely allies to help clear his name, keep his family from harm and save the country from imminent danger.

If action is what you are after then action is what you will get with this one. It’s packed with lots of it including the usual fight scenes, explosions and gun fights. In Gerard Butler it has more than an adequate lead whose stock has risen over the years with memorable roles in 300, Law Abiding Citizen (one of our all time faves), Den of Thieves and much more. It’s probably no coincidence why then he was approached once again for this one.

This trilogy might not have been hyped like other similar movies in the genre like the Jason Bourne trilogy or the modern day James Bond trilogy for that matter, it is does hold it’s own though especially this latest installment. Anyone who makes it a point to go watch it will no doubt more than enjoy it and possibly will live long in their memories as one of those good action one once saw at one time. Very well structured with a good plot and solid cast, there’s a lot to like about this one. It left a very good impression on us and definitely makes for a great watch at any given time. The fact that it’s also not too long (with an estimated 2 hours running time) definitely works in its favor.

Angel Has Fallen brings to a close to an unofficial trilogy in a very strong manner, we reckon it’s the best out of the whole bunch. It probably won’t get too many plaudits or shout-outs like other similar movies in its genre, it still packs a heavy punch that will no doubt find favor with many. A good old pure action movie with no fuss or complications, Angel Has Fallen gets a 7 out of 10 rating from us.

Our thanks to M-Net Movies (in partnership with Ster-Kinekor) for the great evening.

Checkout the trailer below and you’ll get a sense of why we are amped for this one:

Secret service agent Mike Banning is the president’s most trusted security agent – his “top guardian angel”, and the newly appointed Director of Secret Services. Yet when an attempt is made on the president’s life, Banning is arrested as the FBI’s main suspect. To protect the president and clear his name, Banning escapes to discover who is really behind the attack, enlisting help from his reclusive father. But with his own agency after him, how can he possibly prevent the real assassin from finishing the job?

ROCKETMAN is an epic musical fantasy about the incredible human story of Elton John’s breakthrough years. The film follows the fantastical journey of transformation from shy piano prodigy Reginald Dwight into international superstar Elton John. This inspirational story — set to Elton John’s most beloved songs and performed by star Taron Egerton — tells the universally relatable story of how a small-town boy became one of the most iconic figures in pop culture. ROCKETMAN also stars Jamie Bell as Elton’s longtime lyricist and writing partner Bernie Taupin, Richard Madden as Elton’s first manager, John Reid, and Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton’s mother Sheila Farebrother.

See it way before the rest…

Quite the spectacle it looks like and the great news is Ster Kinekor is bringing it to everyone much earlier. You can head down to Cine Prestige with your favourite friends, for a special pre-screening of this dazzling biopic on 29 May 2019 – ten days before it releases countrywide. The theatres are Baywest, Cavendish, Cradlestone, Cresta, Eastgate, Gateway, I’langa Mall, Mall of Africa, Sandton, The Grove, The Zone and Vaal Mall. You probably might be thinking, why write about something (Cine Prestige) that was first officially announced back in 2012? Why, you ask? Well, I felt like it and that’s why. More over though, as mentioned above, the experience at Cresta is something a bit different and that much more special. Lucky enough to be invited by Ster-Kinekor, I went through to go check out the new Deepwater Horizon flick which I wrote a little something on here.

I still reckon the best way to watch any movie is via IMAX however there’s something quite unique, comfortable and might I say, classy about Cine Prestige. For those who haven’t experienced it yet; Prestige enables you to relax in the large red leather chairs that come complete with a control panel that allows the seats to change position and recline at a touch of a button. It doesn’t end there as just outside the cinema you can indulge in one of the many delicious gourmet platter options available. Yes, that’s right, actual food! Ranging from coffee to cake, right down to the usual soft drink and freshly-popped popcorn options.

The experience doesn’t end there as there’s also another exclusive option on offer. Simply referred to as the VIP lounge, this option also offers the very same delicious platters of food with the difference being that you can order and enjoy these whilst watching the movie inside the cinema…something we also got to experience.

If you are as crazy about movies as I am or simply just want to experience something new (after all, why not?) then Cine Prestige is worth checking out. Thank you to the guys at Ster-Kinekor for making me (and my partner) feel not only very important but also, very classy.
