Eager to get a truly TV-oriented gaming PC without waiting until the official Steam Machine launch in 2015?

Alienware is more than happy to oblige: at long last, it’s bringing the Alpha console to our homes. You can now shell out about R6999 at DionWired or more to get a living room-friendly Windows PC with a custom interface designed to work with an included Xbox 360 gamepad.

Don’t expect an ideal Far Cry 4 machine out of the box, however. Every system can play some modern titles thanks to GeForce GTX 860M graphics, but that base system comes with a modest Core i3 processor, 4GB of RAM and a 500GB hard drive; you’ll have to pay R8499 if you want more memory and storage, and at least R9699 if you want a faster CPU. This doesn’t include a mouse and keyboard, either. Nonetheless, the Alpha could be a solid pick if a PS4 or Xbox One just won’t cut it. But with these ridiculous prices, you might just settle for the PS4

That escalated quickly… Just as we are about to brace ourselves for invites to attend the grand launch of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, the guys at DionWired have
gone and listed the next new generation Tab in all its 2 variants on their online store.

[frame src=”http://savibeza.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/DionWired.png” link=”http://savibeza.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/DionWired.png” target=”_self” width=”” height=”” alt=”Premium WordPress Themes” align=”left” prettyphoto=”false”]

The Tab 4’s specs are squarely aimed at the mainstream: a 1.2GHz quad-core CPU, 1,200 x 800 WXGA graphics, Android 4.4 KitKat, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of memory, a MicroSD slot and 3/1.3-megapixel front/back cameras on all models. DionWired lists only the 7 and 10.1-inch model variants for R4500 and R6700 respectively, which leaves room to ponder on whether the confirmed 8-inch model is even destined for SA. When asked for comment earlier this week, a Samsung spokesperson confirmed they will be releasing a statement early next week.
