Nostalgia doesn’t come any better than The Matrix trilogy which set the bar for all sci-fi action movies that followed after it. It’s amazing to think that the first movie was officially released back in 1999 with the subsequent two movies released back to back in 2003 all of which, many would argue, reinvented the art of movie making. Despite the movies that came after it, none hit the spot quite like The Matrix and that’s why this year we excitedly have another instalment to look forward to, The Matrix Resurrections.

From visionary filmmaker Lana Wachowski, The Matrix Resurrections is the long-awaited fourth film in the ground-breaking franchise that redefined a genre. The new film reunites original stars Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the iconic roles they made famous, Neo and Trinity. We now have a trailer to help give us an idea of what’s to come and it was well worth the wait…

Lana Wachowski directed from a screenplay by Wachowski & David Mitchell & Aleksander Hemon, based on characters created by The Wachowskis. The film was produced by Grant Hill, James McTeigue and Lana Wachowski. The executive producers were Garrett Grant, Terry Needham, Michael Salven, Jesse Ehrman and Bruce Berman.

Wachowski’s creative team behind the scenes included Sense8 collaborators: directors of photography Daniele Massaccesi and John Toll, production designers Hugh Bateup and Peter Walpole, editor Joseph Jett Sally, costume designer Lindsay Pugh, visual effects supervisor Dan Glass, and composers Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer.

The film will be distributed by worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. It will be in cinemas and also release on HBO Max in December 2021. Are you as excited as we are for this one?
