Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, the HBO Original series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen.

The first season is up for nine Emmys in January 2024, including Outstanding Drama Series – a category it won at the 2023 Golden Globes.

Matt Smith is back in his Critics Choice-nominated role as Daemon Targaryen, as is Emma D’Arcy in her Golden Globe-nominated role as Rhaenyra Targaryen. Olivia Cooke, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans also return.

New cast this season include Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull, Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome, Kieran Bew as Hugh, Tom Bennett as Ulf, Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark, and Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne. Previously announced new season two cast includes BAFTA nominee Abubakar Salim (Father in Raised by Wolves) as Alyn of Hull, Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers (Sheila the She-Wolf in GLOW), Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and two-time BAFTA winner Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.

While you wait, binge the first season of House of the Dragon on Showmax here.

The storyline of Mr. Bones 3, Son of Bones begins at the turn of the last century, when we witness (flashback) the burying of the Kruger millions by two Boer soldiers, who then kill each other through idiotic greed, leaving the Kruger millions hidden in a graveyard in Kuvukiland. Now, in the present, a scrawny businessman named Alvin (Moonsammy) and his Texan engineer partner named Jack (Janks), together with their beautiful guide, Gabrielle (Anstey) are plotting to mine for oil in the pristine land which would leave it an oily mess. Bones and Mathambo must devise a way to outsmart the opinionated Westerners. Of course, as their plan unfolds, so do many other unexpected twists and turns, with hilarious effect.

Mr. Bones 3, Son of Bones was produced in collaboration with M-Net and Film Chrome, with support from the Department of Trade, Industry and Competition and the National Empowerment Fund. The film is locally distributed by Filmfinity Pty (Ltd.) and will be released in South African cinemas in 2022.

And just like that we had lift off and if you are in the mood for more then be sure to checkout the official M-Net site here.

Fox will share the screen with award-winning South African-born leading man Greg Kriek, who has more than 50 international screen credits to his name.  Sisanda Henna, who recently had African audiences raving about his role as the villain Inkuzi in M-Net’s hit series Trackers, also nabbed a part, while Brandon Auret (District 9, Chappie, Still Breathing) and Jessica Sutton (Kissing Booth, Fort Salem) are among the other well-known South African cast members.

“We are excited to be involved in this feature film project,” says Nkateko Mabaso, M-Net CEO. “It slots perfectly into M-Net’s mission to be Africa’s leading visual storyteller, and to support ventures that give our local talent the opportunity to enjoy worldwide exposure.”

Producer and Mannequin Exec Delon Bakker goes on to say: “I remember sitting behind the monitor on one of our first days, watching our Director of Photography, Brendan Barnes, frame up a scene with Brandon, Sisanda, Greg, Jessica, and Megan. As a South African, that was a really proud moment for me.”

Megan Fox portrays Samantha O’Hara, a powerful woman who leads a team of mercenaries in Africa on a mission to rescue a group of kidnapped schoolgirls. When their plan goes south, the mercenaries find themselves out of ammo and lost in the African bush, having to defend themselves against the kidnappers – and angry lions on a revenge killing mission.

Samantha’s team of mercenaries includes former British Royal Marine Mike Barasa (Greg Kriek);  rock-hard, cynical South African sergeant Elijah (Brandon Auret), a battle-hardened former member of the country’s special forces; and the one-time Kenyan/Masai Al Shabab fighter Pata (Sisanda Henna), who joins the mercenaries to exact revenge on those who murdered his daughter.

M-Net holds the rights to distribute Rogue to African audiences, and Capstone will finance and distribute the rest of the world. Rogue will hit the big screen in America  and South Africa in 2020, on a same day release.

Coming up next on the slate of proudly South African stories is a 13-part family drama, Still Breathing, currently being filmed in and around Johannesburg. From 27 February, Still Breathing will be screened in the M-Net 101 Thursday night slot at 20:00, just after the new season of The Bachelor SA, which starts on 13 February at 19:00.

While Trackers pumped adrenaline with high-octane car chases, flying bullets and blood-curdling crime investigation, Still Breathing sets out to push a totally different set of buttons: the ones of the heart. Love, friendship, complicated relationships, betrayal and long-kept secrets form the emotional crux of a tale about a circle of former friends who have drifted apart with the passage of time but are drawn together again when tragedy strikes. In short, it’s all about love, death – and the mess in-between.

The main themes echo those of international hits such as Brothers and Sisters; This is Us, and Parenthood, but it is spun around the challenges faced by authentic, modern-day South Africans. Sounds like a goodie if you ask us.

We first heard about this one not too long ago in passing and we were since quite intrigued, the television adaptation of internationally acclaimed author Deon Meyer’s crime novel Trackers marks the beginning of a new era in high-end African storytelling.

Quite a coup and milestone from a local content point of view, homegrown channel M-Net has partnered with two global broadcasting giants to take a uniquely South African political thriller to the world. First, as announced in December 2018, M-Net sealed a groundbreaking collaboration deal with Germany’s public broadcaster ZDF. Now, M-Net have confirmed that Trackers is also being co-produced by Cinemax, which will also distribute the drama series worldwide beyond M-Net and ZDF’s geographical broadcasting footprint.

“The trailblazing and massively exciting co-production of Trackers illustrates M–Net’s vision and commitment to shine the spotlight on the African film and television industry and provide fresh, proudly African narratives to our viewers as well as global audiences,” says MultiChoice CEO of General Entertainment, Yolisa Phahle. “It is also taking our longstanding relationship with Cinemax to the next level, allowing local and international talent to combine their world-class story-telling and production skills.”

While M-Net is already the home of Cinemax and its sister network HBO, allowing viewers to enjoy showstoppers like Game of Thrones, Big Little Lies, Westworld and many more; HBO, the broadcasting giants also launched an innovative Producers Apprenticeship programme last year when the Cinemax series Warrior, coming to M-Net in July, was filmed here in Mzansi.

Filming for Trackers has already started in exotic locations spanning the length and breadth of South Africa and the co-production partners have been working together on all aspects of production – from developing and casting, to assembling the crew and approving the final content.

A talented local and international cast is on the bill for the six-part miniseries, the list includes Ed Stoppard, Rolanda Marais, James Alexander and Thapelo Mokoena. More details about their roles and additional credits are said to be announced at a later stage.

Trackers will make its debut on M-Net 101 in October 2019 and will also be available on MultiChoice’s popular on-demand service, Showmax. The six-part drama series is produced by UK production company Three River Studios as well as South Africa’s Scene 23.

If you’re still stuck on tonight Ted – that super annoying, funny, stupid, drunkard of a teddy bear you wish you had –  will be screening right after Carte Blanche at 20h05 shortly followed by Brodie in Homeland.
