Just because you’re not an astronaut, it doesn’t mean you can’t dress yourself in shoes that are so <del datetime="2015-04-01T17:07:05+00:00">hot</del> cool, they’re out of this world.

Puma just unveiled their Ignite runners, made with the PWRCOOL technology designed to keep the body at an optimal temperature to preserve energy. PWRCOOL is incorporated into a complete collection of thermo-regulated apparel and footwear, to coincide with their current CoolCELL – highly functional materials that draw sweat away from the skin while anatomically placed air flow features offer superior temperature regulation.

The company highlights that their Ignite runners – as worn by the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt – feature a ComfortTemp tongue liner to regulate body temperature and was made with “materials that have never been used in sportswear,”.According to Karin Baust, Running Training Business Unit General Manager at Puma, the runner (Ignite has been a long time in the making as they’ve been working on the foam innovation and tooling for a number of years.

“It’s extremely satisfying to launch IGNITE because an advancement in footwear technology like this doesn’t come around every day, and we’re confident this is going to have a big impact on a wide range of runners around the world.” said Baust.

The Puma Ignite will retail for R1 699 and will be available in men’s and women’s styles at Puma branded stores and major retailer nationwide. Additional styles will be introduced and the Ignite line will be expanded further within the running and training categories.

Sometimes you need a little extra encouragement to hit the trail. The latest update to Pumatrac for iOS should give you that friend-based push to lace up when you’re feeling particularly lazy. Social competitions make up most of what’s new in version 2.0, bringing in the same functionality between the iOS and Android app. To start a challenge, simply set a distance, a duration and invite your buddies. From there, group leaderborads allow for motivation (read: trash talk) and checking in on your temporary frenemies’ progress. Each time you clown your pals, you’ll earn a rank. After checking the leaderboard, make sure you download the app on all your Android devices.
