By far one of the funniest comedians of our generation returns in another movie setting titled Night School. Such is his ever growing reputation, Kevin Hart needs no introduction nowadays. In our books he is legendary already and is without a doubt our favourite comedian who continues to produce magic (mostly in the form of laughter) with everything he is involved in, be it a movie or a stand-up comedy show. Starring alongside the equally funny comedian Tiffany Haddish, this latest offering was always bound to gunner bucket loads of attention.

Cast – Kevin Hart, Tiffany Haddish, Rob Riggle, Taran Killam, Romany Malco, Keith David & Loretta Devine

Director – Malcolm D. Lee

Genre – Comedy

Running Time – 1h 51m

The Premise

Star Kevin Hart and producer Will Packer, who partnered for the hit Ride Along and Think Like a Man series, bring their signature style to Night School. The comedy from director Malcolm D. Lee (Girls Trip) follows a group of misfits who are forced to attend adult classes in the longshot chance they’ll pass the GED exam.

Comedy is right up our alley and there’s literally nothing better to watch and write about than that genre, after all what’s not to like about laughter? And laughter is exactly what you will get with Night School. It finds Hart in his element with the whole storyline centred around him and his struggles with school. Complete with a strong and likeable cast to back him up, this turns out to be a cool movie worthy of adding to his impressive line of work.

Speaking of the cast, Tiffany Haddish is no slouch either with an equally strong showing and the perfect complementary foil to Hart’s expected craziness. Night School is essentially what you would expect, a good feel movie with an easy plot that’s full of laughter. The thing that we like about the comedy genre is it’s free flowing nature and how it allows you to escape for while whilst using laughter as its main driver.

Night School will no doubt win with many. In both Kevin Hart and Tiffany Haddish, the movie has the perfect combination that produces more laughter than one could ever hope for. It wins in what it produces and doesn’t try too hard. It perfectly affirms why Kevin Hart is currently the king of comedy, that’s why it gets an oh so cool 7 out of 10 rating from us. Go see it, you are guaranteed bags of laughter at the very least.

All our thanks to MNet Movies (in partnership with Ster Kinekor) for the screening.
