That explains why Samsung Electronics South Africa has teamed up with Discovery Vitality in order to help consumers maintain good health.

Through their new S Health app, the partnership between the two businesses will see Vitality points being offered to Discovery Vitality members for physical activities tracked. . The S Health app, teamed with Samsung’s powerful, elegant and connected Gear devices, provides consumers with the full Samsung health solution. Combined with the S Health app, the Gear S is the perfect personal fitness monitor allowing users to track runs and stay motivated while on the move. With its built-in heart rate sensor, the Gear Fit gives real time coaching to actively support and motivate consumers to achieve fitness goals. The latest version of S Health will be available from June 2015 on Samsung’s latest flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge and on other Samsung devices in the near future.

This partnership encourages consumers to live well by integrating Samsung’s S Health app with Discovery’s Vitality programme to reward users with Vitality points for being active every day.

Here’s how the tiering works;

• Between 7,500 and 9,999 steps a day earns 100 Vitality points;
• Between 10,000 and 12,499 steps a day earns 150 Vitality points; and
• Over 12,500 steps a day earns 200 Vitality points.

The more active a Vitality member is, the more points they earn and so their Vitality status increases from Blue all the way to Gold.
