Earlier today during a keynote speech at CES 2016, we learned that Netflix is working with LG to extend its streaming service throughout the Middle East, Asia and Europe.

More specially so, the service is NOW AVAILABLE IN SOUTH AFRICA. In a press release, LG said the two will “combine efforts” to provide prepaid access. Last year Netflix mentioned how it was working with partners to make it easier to tune into streaming, and it appears that LG is an ideal partner for that with its newly upgraded webOS 3.0 that puts streaming video on par with other sources.

To subscribe, the cheapest package will set you back $7.99 per month and offers a single stream in standard definition, while its mid-tier plan will set you a further $9.99 and lets you watch up to 2 simultaneous streams in HD.

Its most expensive package costs $11.99 per month, and offers up to 4 simultaneous high definition and UHD streams. Content exec Ted Sarandos said Netflix will offer 600 hours of original programming in 2016, before previewing trailers from upcoming series The Crown, and Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down.

Jaguar has introduced its new F-PACE performance crossover, a model the auto maker calls the “ultimate practical sportscar.” The car is designed to be a bunch of things, not the least of which is an everyday driver. The crossover was developed with the maker’s Lightweight Aluminum Architecture (as on the Xe we had the pleasure of driving about a month ago) and has an F-TYPE inspired form. Part of the model’s practicality is its ample space — drivers have a 650-liter luggage compartment, safety systems for both occupants and pedestrians, and more.

Jaguar has taken the wraps off for the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015. The model’s body is made 80 percent from aluminum, which joins magnesium parts and composite headlights to shave weight off the vehicle — it weighs 1,665kg and boasts very low CO2 emissions (129 grams per kilometer). Joining this is a supercharged V6 380PS gas engine, and a 0 to 60mph speed of 5.1 seconds. The F-PACE is electronically limited to 155mph.

[frame src=”http://savibeza.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/JAGUAR_FPACE_LE_S_Location-09.jpg” link=”http://savibeza.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/JAGUAR_FPACE_LE_S_Location-09.jpg” target=”_self” width=”” height=”” alt=”Premium WordPress Themes” align=”left” prettyphoto=”false”]

Jaguar’s new crossover features an InControl Touch Pro, which the auto maker says is the most advanced infotainment system available. Joining it is a 10 inch touchscreen. Up to 8 gadgets can be connected to the vehicle’s WiFi hotspot for use by passengers. Jaguar has also introduced Activity Key, a wearable that is waterproof can be be used to unlock the car – this way the keys can be locked inside if you’re planning to hike or do something else adventurous.

F-PACE features a complete driver assistance program, says Jaguar, and other safety systems to keep everyone in and around the car safe. There’s traction tech and different “levels of grip” to ensure stability in various weather situations. Among those is Adaptive Surface Response. Other features include full LED headlights, a “muscular bonnet”, 22 inch forged wheels, and more. We could go on for days.

The SUV is set to start retailing in SA from 2016, while pricing and model specifics will be announced closer to the local launch.

Just when I was about to shut down my PC and bid farewell to yet another exhausting week (see my Nampo coverage), LG’s local representatives finally lifted the lid on their new flagship’s launch date.

According to the media ‘save the date’ sent on Friday afternoon, LG South Africa will be unwrapping the ‘limit-breaking camera to the sumptuous leather back cover’ G4 in Johannesburg on May 28. In case you missed it, the G4 is all about visual experiences, whether you’re looking at it or taking photos. It centers around a 5.5-inch Quad HD quantum LCD (the first on a phone, LG brags) with higher brightness and contrast, but it’s also focused on design, with an ever-so-slight curve and special backs that include ceramic and multiple shades of leather.

And seeing that PR is on our side, we’ll be live blogging from this event, you can also follow me on twitter @Papi_Mabele for live tweets. Local carriers (Vodacom, MTN) had not responded to queries on the G4 at the time of publish.
