Earlier today the folks at Red Bull announced that local celebrities Siyabonga “Scoop Makhathini” Ngwekazi and Thapelo Mokoena will be joining the impressive line-up of stars, fronted by headline artists AKA, DJ Tira, Patoranking and Admiral & Jahseed, at Red Bull Culture Clash 2017.
The pair will host the event, bringing their wealth of entertainment knowledge and experience to the biggest sound system battle to hit South Africa on 23 September at Orlando Stadium.
Scoop’s brutally honest character coupled with Thapelo’s collected manner make them an ideal combination. Together they will be engaging with the four crews battling it out on the night, with each crew repping their respective genres – hip-hop, house, afro-beats and reggae – and keeping fans entertained between rounds. As it’s the reaction from the crowd that helps determine the winner, fans are in for a treat withScoop and Thapelo injecting all their passion and energy into the event, promising even more entertainment on the night.
Speaking to SA VIBE, Thapelo says he sees the event as an opportunity to unite the continent through music: “Scoop and I are your co-captains on this epic ship. Red Bull Culture Clash always knows how to bring together the masses in a unique and special way and this just happens to be the biggest get together of the year in my books. See you all at Orlando Stadium, Africa!”
