You know what that is, don’t you? That’s right: Vodacom’s new $50 (R549 to be precise) smartphone. In an aggressive move targeted at tweenagers still taking mirror-based selfies with their BlackBerry 8520’s, customers will be able to get the cut-rate Vodacom Smart Kicka starting tomorrow, August 6 2014. According to the PR, the strategy is to provide customers, particularly those on tight budgets, with exactly what they need, when they need it, and at a price they can afford.
The Kicka runs the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system and has over 4 gigabytes (GB) of memory, a 3.5” screen and a — you guessed it — two mega-pixel camera. The device will also come with five free 50 megabyte (MB) Power Bundles to get people connected straight away. So bargain shoppers should stick to Vodacom retail outlets. And there you have it — do with the information what you will.
