We heard that the curved OLED HDTV prototypes LG showed at CES 2013 has been available in Mzansi since October yesteryear. (Don’t blame us for attending Macufe.) We were as wowed as anybody else when we stumbled upon the press release highlighting the TV’s specs about LG’s monstrous offering. LG is touting this 55-inch set as the industry’s first curved ergonomic display with Cinema 3D support. The idea behind the curve is to reduce screen edge distortion by keeping the entire display surface the same distant from your eyes. Pricing is no mystery as its set at a steep R200 000. According to the specs, its 4.3mm depth results in a weight of just 20.1kg, probably thanks to a carbon-fiber reinforced frame. Like an IMAX theater screen, the edges are curved towards the viewer to provide a more immersive feeling.
