Movie Preview - Uncut Gems

When you think Adam Sandler, what immediately comes to mind? Probably comedy right? Something along the lines of this right? And no one would blame you for that. He’s back but this time in a completely and we mean completely different role in an upcoming flick titled Uncut Gems. Already receiving glittering reviews, after seeing the trailer we can see why, this looks like a fantastic and dark thriller that will hit all the right notes. Have a look for yourself below and you’ll understand why:

From acclaimed filmmakers Josh and Benny Safdie comes an electrifying crime thriller about Howard Ratner (Adam Sandler), a charismatic New York City jeweler always on the lookout for the next big score. When he makes a series of high-stakes bets that could lead to the windfall of a lifetime, Howard must perform a precarious high-wire act, balancing business, family, and encroaching adversaries on all sides, in his relentless pursuit of the ultimate win. Taking into account that it’s already listed on a whopping 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes you can’t doubt that there is a lot to this one.

There’s seemingly a trend that’s recently started where we’re seeing comedians proving that they’re not one trick ponies and can in fact act, like really act in serious films and TV shows. We saw it with Mo’nique in Precious, Seth Rogan in Steve Jobs, Vince Vaughan in True Detective, Jason Bateman in Ozark, and much more. All blockbuster offerings and we for ones are definitely here for this trend. On the evidence of all the above, said to be his performance ever and set for an official release date of 13 December, Uncut Gems easily forms part of our must see movies before the year is up.
