Remember way back in March 2024 when we shared the news that GAC Motors is gearing up to launch in South Africa? Well, the day has finally arrived and GAC Motor has finally launched its GS3 EMZOOM in Mzansi.
The Chinese automaker has signed a strategic agreement with the Salvador Caetano Group to handle distribution and retail operations in South Africa. With that comes the introduction of the GS3 EMZOOM.
Launched globally last year, the GS3 EMZOOM has garnered widespread acclaim for its blend of contemporary design, innovative technology, and performance, securing its place in key markets worldwide. It is powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four- cylinder petrol engine, generating 130 kW and 270 Nm of torque. Allowing it to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8 seconds.

At first glance, the GS3 EMZOON features a sporty, dynamic design. From its sharp lines and eye-catching taillights to the sporty rear wing and hidden door handles. Up front the integrated LED headlights, featuring 18 LED bulbs for daytime running lights, ensure high brightness, long-term durability, and enhanced nighttime safety. The vehicle’s sleek sides are accentuated by a double waistline element, and the stylish taillights. Its quite reminiscent of the new Peugeot 3008.

Inside, it has a dual-screen dashboard which includes a high-performance central console powered by an 8-core chipset and a 10.25-inch multi-functional touchscreen with Apple Carplay and Carbitlink smartphone mirroring. In front of the driver you’ll find an LCD instrument cluster up to 7 inches, a surround-view camera system, and a suite of Level 2 ADAS functions.

Pricing for the GS3 EMZOON starts at R469,900 for the 1.5L T Comfort, R499,900 for the 1.5L T Executive and R549,900 for the 1.5L T R-Style.
