Unlike the ungodly trend of appointing celebrities as ‘product engineers’ (Ashton Kutcher for Lenovo) or ‘creative directors’ (Alicia Keys for BlackBerry), Vodafone has stuck to the traditional way of marketing and appointed Mzansi artist Spoek Mathambo as one of their global ambassadors.
The appointed comes in light of Vodafone’s global Firsts programme. Mathambo will feature in the Firsts brand initiative as it is rolled out in the countries in which Vodafone operates.
Spoek has shown a fair bit of interest in tech over the years. He’s also got over 1500 Twitter followers, and is verified which is bound to help the Network operator and smart device maker’s social media marketing… Erm or not so much.
