His brother (Sam Elliott) manages his career, but offstage, Maine’s life is out of control, as he spins from one drunken episode to the next. He helps Ally to find fame, just as his own career and life are falling apart. Lady Gaga stars as Ally, the young singer songwriter; both Cooper and Lady Gaga’s performances received critical acclaim when the film premiered in Venice.
